The candidates can look for jobs in establishments such as reserve bank of India, nationalized banks and private banks, Nationalized banks recruit candidates through competitive examinations (Probationary Officers examinations) while private banks recruit mainly MBAs and Chartered Accountants directly for managerial positions. Some of the major banking areas include Investment Banking, Corporate Finance, Treasury Management, Retail and Rural Banking.

Eligibility

Candidates get recruited at 2 levels in banks – Clerical level and Officer Level. The procedure of selection varies with nationalized and international banks.

  • Selection procedure for nationalized banks – Anyone in the age group of 18-26 years with a graduation degree is eligible for appearing in the written test. Which is followed by an interview Clerical staff is recruited through regional boards. The eligibility and test format are the same qs for the PO examination.
  • Selection procedure for commercial banks: Commercial banks regularly advertise through their Banking Service Recruitment Board (BSRB) to recruit Probationary Officers (PO). Each region has its own BSRB which carries out the recruitment. Eligibility is a graduate in any discipline with an upper age limit for 28 years.
